Recovery

Help yourself to a faster recovery

I am a Nurse Practitioner and Perioperative Nurse Surgical Assistant. My role is a unique in the sense that I work closely with the surgeon in their private practice helping manage patients through their surgical journey. I provide pre-operative care, I then assist in the patients operation and finally help manage the patients rehabilitation. Essentially I am involved in the individuals care from the time they are diagnosed through to the time they are discharged from the surgeons care.
WELCOME!

My name is Linda and I am the creator of this template.

Linda has created this website with the aim to assist patients through their surgical journey. The hope is that every question is answered with the information provided here. Its called my surgical path because every patients journey is unique.

So you have been told you require surgery. Where to next? No doubt the surgeon told you about the operation, a little about your recovery and rehabilitation and sent you on your way, if your lucky you received some paperwork with some instructions. The question is do you really know what to expect and did you ask all the right questions?

My role is truly unique in the sense that I work so closely with the surgeon and patient alike. When I first commenced in this role I begrudgingly would think if this surgeon makes me look through another MRI and explain what I see I am going to lose it! What I did not truly appreciate until all these years later is that I was receiving an amazing education. I was working side by side everyday. I was his surgical assistant, so I was operating with him and I was working in his private consulting rooms seeing patients with him, therefore being able to absorb the knowledge he had acquired over years of being on a surgical training program and fellowships with other exceptional surgeons. So if you are thinking that you should have asked soemthing else at your appointment, it is likely that you will find the help you need right here.

So if you are thinking that you should have asked your suregon something else at your appointment and your forgot, or you only thought about it the moment you left their office, chances are if you read on you will find what you need here! No questions are off limits. Patients needs to know about pain, scaring, rehabilitation, sex after surgery, any and all the things that you may have been thinking about since your appointment or were to afraid to ask durig the consultation. I hope you find the information in this site useful and informative. And good luck with your surgical path!
